ONE MILE = 1.2 Million Souls
Kibera Slum Nairobi, Kenya
Kibera Slum, Kenya E. Africa
One square mile. 1.2 MILLION Souls. That is Kibera Slum in Nairobi, Kenya. It’s the 2nd largest slum in Africa. The flashpoint ofpost-election violence and murder in 2007. Over 1000 killed across the tribally divided country. Poverty, Hopelessness. Hearts hungry for God and a purpose to living.
In 2008 we returned to Kenya. Friends were killed, hearts were shattered. It was during this time while visiting the Kibera District of the City the Lord spoke His heart.
We can reach one million souls in this small area with the manifest love and purpose of God.
From the children to the grandparents we are bringing all tribes and peoples together to serve one GOD, under one GOSPEL.
We have BBMI ministry training already on the ground in Kibera. We also have partnering ministries with available facility space to begin to put Phase II to work.
Phase II
PHASE II: Starting with a feeding assistance program we will help to establish a day-care program to cover the littlest of God’s children. Then we will continue with a primary through high-school program. This will be coupled with an apprentice program building vocational skills in various fields. Using professionals as “missionary instructors” we will train young people in quality workplace skills. A multipurpose plot and building will soon be purchased to expand on our commitment to transform the area from the bottom up. In addition we will have clinics that treat the various conditions that such a place brings on it’s inhabitants. AIDS is prevalent as well as many infant killing diseases. The trade school / educational buildings will double as church and bible school space in the evenings and Sunday.
This is a huge work, but one million souls are counting on us. Together, with Christ in the middle leading each step of the way, we will see transformation.
From their hearts, to their hands, total transformation.
